The Story So Far
After a fight with his high school bully leaves him unconscious, Samuel R. Martin awakens from a strange dream involving the spirit Apep and discovers his missing father’s legendary sword, Stonecutter, in the Hidden Treasures Pawn Shop. Determined to reclaim his father’s blade, Sammy turns to the Youngbucks, a street gang preparing to unleash a dangerous new drug called Orchid across Denrock and eventually the state of Westchest. What begins as a way to earn enough money for the sword pulls Sammy deeper into the gang, costing him his innocence, friendships, and his mother’s trust while awakening mysterious powers he barely understands. After earning Stonecutter and walking away from the gang, Sammy reconnects with the people who truly care about him. But the Youngbucks retaliate, forcing Sammy to confront the consequences of his choices and stop Orchid from spreading throughout Westchest. With the gang defeated and his identity no longer safe, Sammy is sent into hiding at the Church of the One, where he must learn more about his powers and the legacy of the City Samurai. His journey is only beginning.

Samuel “Sammy” R. Martin is a stubborn and passionate young teenager who loves basketball, martial arts movies, and the legend of the City Samurai. After his father mysteriously disappears, Sammy is left wondering who his father really was and why he left, driving him to uncover the truth for himself.
When Sammy discovers his father’s legendary sword, Stonecutter, he sees an opportunity to understand the man he’s been searching for finally, but getting the sword comes at a cost. His search pulls him into the dangerous world of the Youngbucks, where friendship, loyalty, and his own innocence are tested. As strange powers begin awakening within him and the spirit Apep enters his life, Sammy realizes his father’s legacy may be far greater than he imagined.
Now Sammy must decide what kind of person, and what kind of City Samurai, he wants to become.

The Corrupt State
Westchest carries a long history of conflict between its citizens and the state government. Each borough is ruled by a powerful monopoly, a single business granted free reign over its territory. Denrock thrives on drugs, Ramona bows to religion, and so forth. Thus each domain holds unique demographics, struggles, and ideologies, giving Westchest a fractured but interwoven identity.
