The Bardo Story
Follow the timeline to discover the events that have unfolded in the Bardo Universe.

The Cosmic Comet
Before the Beginning
In the beginning, a cosmic comet entered our universe, a mysterious ball of unknown radiation, believed by some to be divine intervention, carrying the gods within it. When it struck the lifeless Earth, its impact sparked the birth of life itself, forever changing the course of the planet.
The Elder Gods Arrive
3 Billion BCE
The Elder Gods carried by the comet descended upon Earth and began terraforming the world according to their vision. Gods such as Izanagi, Izanami, Atum, and Pangu wielded 100% Divinity, the raw power of the universe itself, shaping oceans, volcanoes, and the very foundations of reality with their divine will.

Pantheons Rise
4,000 BCE
When the Elder Gods divided their Divinity among their children, a new generation of gods emerged, less powerful than their creators, but more ambitious, volatile, and eager to shape the world in their own image. These gods established pantheons, created spirits and monsters, and shaped humanity into civilizations, each bearing the mark of the godly lineage that created them.
The Golden Age of Divinity
1,000 BCE
As the pantheons rise, the children of the Elder Gods inherit their power and begin carving kingdoms of their own. Rival gods wage war for land and influence, while an ancient prophecy foretells a coming catastrophe—the end of the divine age and all that is good, glorious, and sacred.

The Last Age of Divinity
200 BCE
In the Last Age of Divinity, Buriji, a mysterious girl with supernatural strength, is forced to hide on an isolated farm after being labeled a yokai. When soldiers come to destroy the “monster” they fear, Buriji steps out of hiding to protect her family—setting her on a path that could change history.
Alchemist, Study of the Gods
Middle ages
Alchemy is the ancient study of Divinity, the practice humans came to call magic, witchcraft, or wizardry. Alchemists learn to safely wield the divine power left behind by the gods without harming themselves or others.

The Colonization of Westchest
Early 1700's
Chesterworth Colony, the 14th colony, was established alongside the original thirteen, while the Indigenous nations driven from the surface built a hidden civilization deep beneath the land, strengthening their connection to the spirits. Centuries later, during the Civil War, two descendants of the colony’s founder took opposing sides, where the victor’s guerrilla tactics, and the aid of their allies, would forever change the colony’s name to Westchest.
The Radiant Threat
1800's
Radiants are humans whose Divinity has been altered through dangerous or intentional alchemy, granting them supernatural abilities. The first generation often struggles to control their corrupted power, while their descendants gradually develop greater control as their bodies adapt to it. With each generation, the power becomes weaker, eventually leaving behind only faint traces of the original Divinity.

Defense against Radiant
1950-modern
For generations, Radiants were both heroes and villains, until the Age of Heroes saw untrained Radiants rise to protect the public, often causing as much chaos as the threats they fought. By the 1970s–80s, governments created RIOT, an elite force of cybernetically enhanced officers trained to subdue Radiants. By the 1990s, their success led to the creation of android police with human, like appearances, but the program became a disaster and was eventually stopped. In the 2010s, governments introduced PIGS, Peace Inforcement Genetic Soldiers, engineered human-pig hybrids designed to be intelligent, loyal, durable, and powerful enough to overwhelm Radiants by sheer numbers.
City Samurai: Calvin
Early 90's
Prophets are mortal beings capable of housing a god within themselves, allowing divine entities to manifest their power through a human host. One of the most feared was Calvin Martin, the legendary hero of the 1990s and deadliest City Samurai, who became the vessel of Apep and wielded his immense power, granting him superhuman strength, speed, durability, healing, fire, and control over the weather.

Tradition & The Council of Nine
The 90's
For decades, Tradition has operated from the shadows, quietly manipulating Westchest through crime, politics, churches, media, corporations, and the institutions that shape its people. At the height of his power in the 1990s, he commanded the Council of Nine, an elite circle of industry leaders who secretly reshaped the city according to their vision of perfect order. Among them were the architects of the Radiant prison system, secret academies that trained children as assassins, and powerful figures who influenced nearly every corner of society. No one knows how deep Tradition's influence truly goes, or how long he has been pulling the strings.
City Samurai vs Tradition
1900's
In the late 90's, City Samurai, the deadly Calvin Martin and prophet of Apep, joined forces with his fiancée Smoke, a RIOT agent, and Mike Stone, a young bionic hero, to confront Tradition atop Titan Tower. They defeated the city's most powerful criminal and imprisoned him for his crimes against the republic, seemingly freeing Westchest from his control.

The Hero Who Vanished
Early 2000's
After years of fighting, Calvin Martin retired as City Samurai to build the family he had always wanted with his wife, Yvette Martin, and their son, Samuel “Sammy” Martin. But when Sammy was seven, Calvin vanished without a trace, his family home left in ruins, with shattered stone, water, and signs of a violent struggle, but no sign of him. Yvette was left heartbroken, while Sammy grew up angry, carrying the unanswered question of what happened to his father.
